Are you a newly qualified Science Teacher (ECT) ready to launch your teaching career in a supportive and forward-thinking school? A well-resourced secondary school in Southend-on-Sea is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join their science department from September 2025. This full-time, permanent role offers an excellent opportunity for an Early Career Teacher looking to thrive in their first position.

The school is committed to nurturing its staff and offers a structured ECT induction programme, a dedicated mentor, and regular CPD tailored to your development. You’ll teach across KS3 and KS4, engaging students in the wonders of science through practical, creative, and real-world learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and inclusive science lessons across KS3 and KS4.
  • Encourage scientific enquiry, problem-solving, and curiosity.
  • Track and support student progress through effective feedback and assessment.
  • Participate in the school’s ECT induction programme and whole-school CPD.
  • Contribute to curriculum planning, resources, and enrichment activities.
  • Build strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and classroom engagement.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • QTS or expected QTS by September 2025.
  • A degree in a science-related subject (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Physics).
  • No prior teaching experience required—enthusiasm and dedication are essential.
  • A commitment to professional learning and growth.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • Passion for inclusive education and inspiring young scientists.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.
