Psychiatric Emergency Services Clinician, Per Diem, Days and Relief Shifts, Harrington Hospital

Work as a member of a multi‑disciplinary team to provide emergency psychiatric services to children who present for evaluation to emergency departments, as well as patients within the hospital who require crisis evaluation. Provide crisis intervention and risk assessment to evaluate service and level of care needs. Must have experience working independently while also willing to collaborate with other team members (psychiatrist, nursing, behavioral health staff) to achieve patient care goals.

• Develops and maintains good working relationships with other members of the PES Team, staff members of other departments in the organization, and members of community agencies and department collaterals.
• Demonstrates ability to formulate diagnostic impressions based on DSM‑V criteria, assess for risk to self or others, and for risk of being the victim of abuse or neglect as defined by the State of Massachusetts protective agencies.
• Demonstrates knowledge and use of best‑practice techniques and considers input, feedback and concerns of the patient’s natural support systems when making determinations for appropriate levels of care.
• Records clinical information in the required format that is consistent with professional standards, Joint Commission, DMH, and DPH.
• Treats patients, family members, co‑workers and collaterals with respect regardless of personal bias.

Position

Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in social work, mental health or other related field.

• License in the behavioral health field.

• Minimum two years of experience in the behavioral health field.
