• Stay up to date regarding curriculum content.
• Plan and assess curriculum and instruction effectively.
• Mentor students’ understanding of the curriculum and adjust instruction, materials, or assessments when appropriate.
• Manage the classroom environment effectively.
• Deliver instruction that makes learning goals clear, using appropriate instructional and questioning techniques.
• Use innovative approaches and instructional strategies, including technology, to increase student learning and confidence.
• Promote high standards and expectations for student achievement.
• Promote equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure equitable learning opportunities, including strategies for students with special needs, 504 plans, or second‑language learners.
• Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
• Collaborate with SPED and ELL specialists to meet specific student needs.
• Prepare students for MCAS.
• Understand high‑school philosophy and structure of high‑school teams.
• Maintain data and documentation as appropriate.
• Participate in school‑wide professional development and seek continual feedback and coaching to develop as a teacher.
• Ensure equal educational opportunity for all individuals regardless of protected characteristics.
• Complete any other duties assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.

• Education:
  
  Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
• Hold a valid Massachusetts Teaching License in ESL 5‑12.
• Hold a valid Massachusetts SEI Endorsement.
• Meet all state and federal guidelines for full licensure and high qualification.
• Current authorization to work in the United States, with such authorization by the first day of employment.
• Demonstrated experience in English Language Development (ELD) and Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) strategies.

• Experience in urban, high‑poverty, and/or turnaround schools.
• Major/minor in a specific teaching content area.
• Additional certification in Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities.
• Bilingual language proficiency (Spanish/English) strongly preferred.
