Overview

The Emergency Department at UMass Harrington Hospital and Harrington Health Care at Webster is seeking a Physician Assistant to join our staff of dynamic, highly regarded ED practitioners for our Southbridge and Webster locations. Provide direct patient care relative to physical diagnosis and therapeutic management for patients in the Emergency Department working under the supervision of a licensed physician.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department under supervision of a licensed physician, including physical diagnosis and therapeutic management.
  • Support ED operations across Southbridge and Webster campuses; participate in patient management and physician support in the main ED.
  • Care for an estimated annual ED volume of approximately 43,000 combined visits.
  • Promote a work environment that supports work-life balance.
  • Engage in varied shifts with no night shifts.
  • Participate in CME funding and continuing education opportunities.
  • Malpractice insurance with tail coverage.

UMass-Harrington Health Care System is a regional health system that provides health care to patients in south central Massachusetts and northeast Connecticut, with its main hospital campus in Southbridge, MA and satellite ED in Webster, MA. The Emergency Departments at Harrington Health Care are staffed and managed by HMFP/APHMFP.

Job Requirements
  • Master's degree in Physician Assistant.
  • 2+ years of experience in a clinical setting, preferably Emergency Department or Urgent Care Center.
  • Massachusetts state licensure.
  • MA Board authorization to practice licensure.
  • American Heart Association – Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
  • Certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred but not required.
  • Valid prescriptive authority from both MA DPH-DCP and Federal DEA.
  • Experience in an Emergency Department or Urgent Care Center.
  • Competency in provision of care to patients of all ages.
Salary Range

$90,000 - $150,000

The base pay range reflects what Associated Physicians of Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (APHMFP) / Longwood Specialty Physicians (LSP) reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this role at the time of the posting and may be modified from time to time. Actual compensation within this range may be determined based on several factors, including work experience, specialty training, geography of work location, anticipated productivity, FTE basis, and role expectations.

In addition to base compensation, this role may be eligible for performance-based incentives, which may include bonuses for productivity and quality. APHMFP/LSP also offers a comprehensive and generous employee benefits program to eligible employees, including health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, as well as retirement plan(s) with employer contribution.
