The accounts payable clerk is responsible for routine bookkeeping operations in collection payment within the City Clerk's office. Must have general knowledge of bookkeeping/accounting principals.
Essential Duties
- Posts and balances financial accounts
- Maintains general and subsidiary records according to established account classifications; posts entries from supporting records
- Posts expenditures to budgetary accounts
- Balances disbursements and other registers daily on a timely basis
- Maintains general and subsidiary revenue and expenditures; records, sorts, proofs and posts entries from supporting records, making adjusting entries, balancing against other records and preparing reports from such records
- Prepares claims dockets for semi-monthly board meeting
- Assists with purchase order requests in accordance with established guidelines
- Assists other clerks with records requests and routine clerical tasks
The general day to day work environment is conducted in a office setting.
Requirements
- Basic principles of business letter writing and basic report preparation
- Bookkeeping and/or accounting principles
- Microsoft Office;
Work and Excel - Basic mathematical skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3 years of clerical and/or bookkeeping experience preferred
