As a Transport Coordinator, you will be responsible for planning, executing and optimising the UK inland transport network (road, rail, ports and depots). You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure efficient, cost-effective and compliant transport operations, while maintaining excellent service levels for our customers.
Key ResponsibilitiesPlan and execute UK inland transport work orders using the most cost-effective and environmentally friendly transport solutions
Maximise rail utilisation and ensure efficient planning from and to optimal rail locations
Coordinate full and empty container movements in line with agreed SLAs and customer requirements
Optimise empty container utilisation through triangulation, depot exchanges and reduced empty mileage
Monitor vendor performance, challenge service issues and manage service recovery activities
Analyse transport spend, identify cost-saving opportunities and support dedicated truck planning
Ensure all transport activities comply with company processes, UK legal regulations and safety standards
Maintain accurate and timely system updates across OPUS and other transport systems
Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, overseas colleagues and vendors
Support the Transport Team Leader and wider team as required
Previous experience in UK road and/or rail transport planning (minimum 2 years desirable)
Strong knowledge of the UK inland container transport market, including ports and depots
Understanding of UK inland transport regulations (ADR, IMDG, RID where applicable)
High level of accuracy, attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and collaborative approach
Confident communicator, able to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholdersGCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade C or above)
Experience with transport planning systems (PARIS desirable)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
