Vet Surgeon

The hospital is looking for RCVS-registered veterinary surgeons who are passionate about learning and excited by a variety of interesting cases. Candidates should be comfortable with sole charge responsibilities, performing routine surgeries, and conducting basic case workups. Strong communication skills are essential, as well as a willingness to collaborate with a diverse range of colleagues and clients. Leading by example and sharing expertise will be key to this role.

This charity hospital in Southampton has long been an integral part of the community, providing critical support for pets and their owners in need. The team manages a busy and diverse caseload, from routine vaccinations to emergency care. To ensure variety, the shift structure is designed to avoid monotony, with one late shift from 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM and one early shift from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM each week.

Out-of-hours coverage is provided by Vets Now, allowing staff to focus on monitoring stable patients in the hospital. The majority of the team works part-time, and weekend duties are shared on a 1:8 rotation, providing ample time off, including lieu time at the end of the following week. Enhanced pay is also offered for weekend work.
