Job responsibilitiesWHAT YOU'LL DO
- Participate in the checking and administration of intravenous drugs.
- Participate in the checking and administration of intravenous chemotherapy with appropriate training.
- Give and receive regular reports on the progress of patients, immediately acting on any changes in the patients' condition, and reporting them to the relevant health care professional.
- Work with medical staff and other members of the health care team locally & regionally to ensure that treatments are carried out within agreed policies.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- RSCN/RN Child Branch qualification.
- Previous experience of working in paediatric oncology is desirable but not essential.
- Compentent in the administration of intravenous therapy.
- Competence in the administration of chemotherapy is desirable but not essential.
The unit is a MASCC‑Designated centre of excellence in Supportive Care in Cancer, one of only 2 centres in the UK. We have a dedicated team of research nurses who work on a number of clinical trials, we are a leading centre for Neuroblastoma trials. We have a team of 8 oncology nurse specialists based on the unit who support families in our care.
We have dedicated clinical facilitators on the unit to enable us to provide the best possible platform to achieve the career that you want with our oncology education pathway.
- Qualified Nurse (Degree/Diploma)
- Registered nurse on appropriate part of the register
- Knowledge of current issues within acute Health Service
- Understanding of personal accountability
- Knowledge of own role within the team
- Provide evidence of teaching and supporting learners in practice in the role of practice supervisor
- Awareness of evidence‑based practice
- Awareness of responsibilities for management of infection control
- Evidence of on‑going personal development
- Able to use initiative
- Evidence of recent study
- Previous experience/qualification in relevant specialty
- Teaching experience
- Working Together
- Always Improving
