Mechanical Technician – Southampton (Permanent)

Our client, a global leader in flow control solutions based in Southampton, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician to perform rotating equipment maintenance activities directed by the responsible engineer. You will be responsible for removal, dismantle, inspection, repair, rebuild and commission of rotating equipment for both corrective and preventative work, working closely within the team to deliver the highest quality repair on time, to budget and to the satisfaction of the client.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering on time and minimizing complaints and rework activities.
  • Carry out duties in compliance with HSEQ procedures, reporting and resolving concerns, and participating in accident investigations.
  • Work with Supervisor/Manager to complete equipment repairs, strip‑down reports, assembly rebuild records and tests to meet the work schedule.
  • Follow risk assessments, toolbox talks and safety methods to maintain the highest safety and quality standards.
  • Use technical method statements, read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately.
  • Complete reports, assembly and tests on time to meet department K.P.I.s.
  • Measure and record dimensions, tolerances and clearances as required.
  • Adopt permits‑to‑work and other work order card procedures before and during operations.
  • Undertake ad hoc or unskilled jobs when necessary, working unsupervised and as part of a team.
  • Maintain a high level of housekeeping using 5S and LPS techniques and ensure the area is inspection ready.
  • Attend pre‑job briefs, ensure tasks are understood and carry out requirements prior to commencing tasks.
  • Refer problems or clarifications to the appropriate Supervisor and ensure all field procedures are adhered to.
Requirements
  • Relevant experience as a Mechanical Technician.
  • Experience with various rotating equipment.
  • Flexibility to share on‑call rota responsibilities.
  • Medically fit to fulfill the role and complete confined space, D&A and medical certification.
