Overview

We are looking for a Mechanical Assistant to join our hard working Estate team. As a Mechanical Assistant you will assist in providing a high quality, efficient, responsive, flexible & effective estates service to Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary Estates team reporting to the Estates Officer (Operational).

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of installations, plant and equipment to minimise unplanned downtime, complying with the Health & Safety at Work Act and other legislation, to maximise efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage your own allocated workload and work unsupervised in the course of maintenance duties, including responding to out of hours requests in conjunction with the Estates on-call service.
  • Flush water outlets and support senior maintenance staff in routine water testing and sampling activities to maintain compliance with ACOP L8.
  • Carry out minor plumbing and mechanical tasks and assist building trades where appropriate, with an understanding of the operation of building services in NHS buildings to maintain safe and efficient operation of the buildings and building services.
  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM). Follow PPM schedules, complete necessary report sheets and test certificates, and update Plant Room Log Books.
  • Work is guided by departmental precedents and defined occupational policies, SOPs and codes of conduct. Supervision is provided with results/outcomes assessed at agreed intervals.
