Role:
Buyer
Duration: 6-month contract
Pay: £25-30 p/hr (Inside IR35)
Location:
Southampton (Fully onsite)
As a Buyer, you will be responsible for managing day‑to‑day purchasing activities, ensuring optimal supply performance, and maintaining accurate system data.
You'll own your commodity area, working closely with suppliers to stabilise and improve delivery, resolve supply issues, and support continuous improvement initiatives within the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage your allocated supplier portfolio, ensuring consistent material availability aligned with MRP demand.
Lead supplier communication, holding regular reviews to drive performance and escalate risks when required.
Build strong relationships with key suppliers to stabilise the supply chain and support long‑term improvement.
Raise, manage, and monitor purchase orders in line with MRP requirements.
Issue demand forecasts and ensure suppliers have the correct documentation, drawings, pricing, and T&Cs.
Expedite materials where required and proactively resolve delivery, invoicing, or documentation issues.
Maintain accurate ERP/MRP master data, including lead times and batch sizes.
Track and report key supplier KPIs, ensuring issues are addressed quickly and effectively.
This is a key role for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, can build strong supplier relationships, and are passionate about driving supply chain stability and performance.
Key Requirements:
Experience with in Aerospace, Defence or manufacturing environments
Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems, especially purchasing or planning processes.
Experience managing suppliers and building effective stakeholder relationships.
Skilled in data analysis, problem‑solving, and prioritising workload.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
High attention to detail, organised and process‑driven.
Resilient, proactive, and confident in taking ownership of tasks.
Experience resolving supplier conflict.
