Are you looking to develop an interesting and rewarding career in an ambitious city? Are you, highly motivated, professional and friendly and passionate about delivering excellent IT support and making a real difference to frontline services? We’re looking for a proactive, customer focused Digital Support Officer to join our Housing Operations team based in Nursling.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong IT support experience who enjoys problem-solving, helping others, and keeping systems running smoothly for a busy operational workforce.

About The Team

We’re a key part of the Council’s Residents’ Services Directorate, which brings together housing, customer services and community support around a shared purpose: to make sure every resident has access to a safe, affordable and sustainable home, and to strengthen the communities that make Southampton a city of opportunity.

About You

As our Digital Support Officer, you will be the first point of contact for IT support within Housing Operations — especially for our Trade Operatives. You will:

  • Provide tier 1 IT support, resolving most issues at first contact.
  • Log, diagnose and progress IT incidents and service requests via phone, email, MS Teams or in person.
  • Escalate more complex issues to specialist IT teams where needed.
  • Maintain accurate IT records, user access requests, device inventories and knowledge base content.
  • Deliver one-to-one or group training sessions to help staff get the most from their devices and systems.
  • Support the smooth running of Housing Operations by helping ensure IT equipment and systems are reliable, secure and fully utilised.
  • Contribute to incident trend analysis and continuous improvement activities.
  • Collect and deliver devices between sites to support quick resolution of issues.

This role is key in ensuring our operational teams can deliver excellent customer service to residents. Experience and knowledge in this field is a must.

As the work is varied a flexible approach is required to meet changing needs and tight deadlines. The ability to build strong relationships, demonstrate excellent customer service skills, enthusiasm, and a ‘can do’ attitude is essential. We’re looking for someone that takes ownership, delivers results, works collaboratively and professionally at all times, seeking improvement, listens to feedback and contributes to positive change.
