Overview
The Laboratory Medicine department currently has a vacancy for a Specialist Medical Laboratory Assistant in the Point of Care Section. We are looking for a friendly and cheerful person, who is practical, has an interest in science and would be comfortable working with and training a variety of staffing groups across the hospital. You will be based in Laboratory Medicine but the role involves visiting and supporting point of care services in clinical areas across the Trust.
Responsibilities- Work across the Trust to visit and support point of care services in clinical areas.
- Maintain competency for the role with training provided; work under direct and indirect supervision on wards and in departments that use POCT devices.
- Support the department’s commitment to good laboratory practice and provide an efficient, safe service to service users and patients.
- Full-time 37.5 hours per week; part-time options will be considered.
- Previous medical laboratory experience is desirable, but full training will be provided.
- Literate, numerate and have excellent keyboard skills.
- Based in Laboratory Medicine with the ability to work across clinical areas and train a variety of staffing groups.
