What You’ll DoDetailed job description and main responsibilities
- Be responsible for the day to day operational management of dietitians working across acute and specialist medicine, medicine for older people and neurosciences, providing supervision and support for junior staff and ensuring adequate cover is in place during periods of staff absence.
- Complete appraisals for designated staff.
- Attend regular meetings with the other team leads and managers.
- Be responsible for recruitment and selection of junior staff as vacancies arise.
- Lead on assigned projects within speciality areas.
- Provide a clinical dietetic service to patients with neurological conditions.
- Work closely with MDT colleagues in the planning and delivery of clinical services and initiatives.
- Represent dietetics at relevant meetings.
- Lead service developments, audits and specific projects.
- Provide training to ward staff and MDT colleagues.
We are looking for an HCPC registered dietitian with significant clinical experience. You must have experience in managing complex nutrition support patients. The successful post holder will have some experience of providing supervision or mentorship to junior staff although training will be provided to further develop leadership skills if required. You must have excellent communication skills.

Essential criteria
- Degree or equivalent in Nutrition and Dietetics
- Masters level qualification or equivalent experience
- HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) registered dietitian (RD)
- Evidence of post-graduate training in relevant speciality
- Experience of supervising staff
- Experience and involvement with training
- Evidence of extensive dietetic knowledge and highly specialist expertise in relevant specialist area with recent experience demonstrating this
- Ability to carry out physical anthropometric measurements and assess nutritional status
- Demonstration of understanding of clinical governance and its implications for service delivery
Desirable criteria
- Member of British Dietetic Association (BDA) and relevant specialist groups
- Experience of leading or co-ordinating audit or research work
- Clinical supervisory skills training
