About The Role

Location: Nursling, Southampton

Days &

Hours:

Permanent morning support Monday-Friday 7.30am‑9.30am. Bank hours include weekends, school holidays and team absences. Occasional 2:1 care Tuesdays 3pm‑6pm for hydrotherapy.

Typical term time Bank shifts: Monday-Friday 7.30am‑9.30am, Afternoons 2.45pm‑7.45pm, Saturdays 4‑6 hours (e.g. 10am‑4pm), occasional Friday or Saturday evening (e.g. 6.30pm‑11pm).

Typical school holiday Bank shifts: Full days Monday-Friday 8.00am‑6.00pm, Saturdays as required.

Pay: £15.98 per hour Monday-Friday, £18.11 per hour Weekends, £31.96 per hour Bank Holidays

Driver required? Essential. Own car required. Mileage paid.

Using own vehicle for work? Yes, on duty and to attend training.

Essential

Experience:

Experience working with children with disabilities, personal care and record keeping.

Desirable: Experience supporting clients in their own homes, an interest in therapy.

Accommodation (on duty): 3‑bedroom family home.

About Bara

Bara, born 2018, is a delightful 5‑year‑old with cerebral palsy affecting all four limbs and developmental delay. She is non‑weight bearing, requires hoisting for transfers, uses a specialist buggy outdoors, is a power wheelchair user and needs specialist support to maintain posture. Bara is doubly incontinent, communicates for toileting and is making good verbal progress supported by a team of therapists.

Responsibilities

Your role will be to assist Bara with personal care needs, support her eating and drinking, manage transfers between home equipment, and help her play and participate in home‑based activities and therapies after school. You may also take her on trips out, support her attend clubs, activities and hydrotherapy, and be available on occasional evenings to provide babysitting for both children, allowing parents an evening out.

Qualifications

and Skills
  • Female (essential) due to personal care provision.
  • Ability to work with specialist equipment; training will be provided.
  • Experience with children with cerebral palsy.
  • Knowledge and experience using signing (Makaton, Signalong, British Sign Language).
  • Confident and comfortable working in Bara’s home, respectful of her and family wishes.
  • Commitment and passion for meeting Bara’s needs.
  • Empathy and professional understanding.

  • Good organisational skills and adherence to standards.

Pay and Benefits
  • £15.98 per hour Monday-Friday, £18.11 per hour Weekends, £31.96 per hour Bank Holidays.

  • 5.6 weeks annual leave pro‑rata.
