Finance Manager

SNG Healthcare is proud to be supporting a well-established organisation within the health and social care sector in the recruitment of an experienced Finance Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled finance professional to take ownership of the organisation's day-to-day financial management, working closely with senior leadership and an outsourced Finance Director to ensure strong financial governance, high-quality reporting, and sustainable organisational growth.

The Role

As Finance Manager, you will be the senior in-house finance professional, responsible for overseeing the finance function and leading the transactional finance team. You will work closely with the Executive Management Team, operational leaders and the outsourced Finance Director, providing reliable financial insight to support effective decision-making and service delivery. You will also play a central role in ensuring strong financial controls, compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, and continuous improvement of financial systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities Financial Management & Reporting
  • Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, forecasts and variance analysis
  • Produce financial reports for senior leadership and Board review
  • Provide meaningful financial insight to support operational and strategic decisions
Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts
  • Support budget holders and operational managers in understanding financial performance
  • Provide financial modelling to support service growth, workforce planning and tenders
Financial Governance & Compliance
  • Maintain robust financial controls and governance processes
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC, Companies House and sector regulatory requirements
  • Support financial sustainability and regulatory requirements within a regulated service environment
Finance Systems & Process Improvement
  • Support the review and implementation of finance systems and digital improvements
  • Act as the finance lead for system upgrades and process transformation
  • Ensure new financial processes are embedded effectively across the organisation
Income & Cash Flow Management
  • Oversee invoicing across Local Authority, NHS and private funding streams
  • Monitor aged debt and support effective income recovery
  • Produce cash flow forecasts and financial risk analysis
Leadership
  • Line manage the Purchase Ledger Clerk and Sales Ledger Clerk
  • Provide supervision, guidance and development to the transactional finance team
  • Foster strong working relationships between finance and operational teams
About You

We are looking for a proactive and commercially aware Finance Manager who can combine technical financial expertise with strong leadership and communication skills.

Essential
  • Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or qualified by experience (QBE)
  • Proven experience in a Finance Manager or Management Accountant role
  • Strong experience in management accounts, forecasting and financial reporting
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Strong Excel and financial systems knowledge
  • Experience leading or supporting finance process or systems improvements
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with stakeholders across the organisation
Desirable
  • Experience working within healthcare, social care or regulated services
  • Knowledge of charity or not-for-profit finance (Charity SORP)
  • Experience supporting audit processes or outsourced finance functions
  • Experience of digital finance transformation or system implementation
