Financial Controller

Location: Southampton (Hybrid, 2–3 days onsite per week)

Duration: 6 months (Inside IR35)

We’re looking for an experienced Financial Controller to strengthen financial governance, enhance controls, and lead core accounting activities across a complex and high‑profile environment. This role is ideal for a technically strong, forward‑thinking finance leader who can drive high‑quality reporting, maintain robust financial stewardship, and support a modern, digitally‑enabled finance function.

As a key member of the central finance team, you will oversee accounting operations, ensure statutory compliance, deliver accurate month‑end and year‑end reporting, and champion continuous improvement—particularly around automation, data quality, and Dynamics 365 Finance.

• Maintain and enhance financial controls, ensuring strong governance and audit readiness.
• Lead central finance operations including billing, AP/AR, GL management, cost, inventory and revenue accounting.
• Oversee month‑end and year‑end close processes, ensuring timely, accurate and insightful reporting.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, legal requirements, and internal policy frameworks.
• Develop and embed financial policies and processes, addressing non‑compliance constructively.
• Provide clear, technical accounting insight and advise on emerging developments.
• Act as business owner for Dynamics 365 Finance
  , ensuring data integrity and driving process improvements.
• Lead, coach and develop team members, building future‑ready finance capability.
• Support the organisation’s journey toward increased automation and AI‑enabled financial controls.

• Fully qualified accountant:
  ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
  .
• Proven experience leading high‑performing finance teams.
• Strong technical accounting expertise and experience preparing statutory annual reports.
• Confident working with finance systems (Dynamics 365 desirable) and passionate about process improvement, data quality and automation.
• Collaborative, proactive leader who promotes strong financial stewardship and works effectively across the organisation.
