Overview
Tie Talent is seeking two Electrical/Mechanical Estimators to join our Head Office team in Southampton. The Estimators will focus on preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates, and the necessary technical and commercial submission documentation for a wide variety of M&E engineering projects throughout the UK and overseas. The role is based at our Southampton office with potential exposure to projects nationwide.
Responsibilities- Prepare multi-discipline proposals for the process, water and waste sectors, as well as the energy sector.
- Program workloads within a small team with an emphasis on deadline-driven priorities.
- Read and fully understand client specifications, drawings, and documentation required for formal submissions.
- Compile and collate documentation, schedules and data sheets for final proposals (both commercial and technical).
- Identify project requirements and solutions, including programmes and value engineering.
- Liaise with in-house M&E design teams as necessary.
- Coordinate with suppliers, specialist sub-contractors and internal resources.
- Prepare material, labour, plant and subcontractor cost analysis spreadsheets.
- Prepare preliminary programmes and participate in internal/external review and progress meetings.
- Attend site visits and client meetings; consider site health, safety and environmental issues.
- Knowledge of contract conditions, in particular the NEC suite of contracts.
- IT literacy: MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and MS Project.
- Confident, well-organised, and able to work to short deadlines under pressure.
- HNC/HND/BEng in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering OR equivalent experience.
- Previous background in estimating, project management or design.
- Knowledge of working in the water industry is advantageous but not essential.
