The Regional Liaison Engineer acts as the key operational representative for wastewater treatment capital projects in the South West region. This role ensures that operational requirements are embedded throughout the project lifecycle—from design and construction to commissioning and handover. The engineer will collaborate closely with Capital Delivery teams, providing expert input to ensure projects are safe, efficient, and aligned with long-term asset performance goals.
Whatyou will be responsible for:
- Act as the operational voice throughout the lifecycle of wastewater treatment projects
- Review and influence engineering designs to ensure they are practical, maintainable, and cost-effective
- Provide input during detailed design and commissioning phases
- Ensure safety-critical processes, such as Safe Control of Operations (SCO), are planned and compliant
- Support mobilisation, construction, and commissioning activities across sites
- Facilitate smooth project handovers, ensuring operational teams are prepared and confident
- Regular travel across sites (full UK driving licence required)
- Participation in a call-out rota may be required
Essential
- Strong technical understanding of wastewater treatment processes
- Experience in operational or project delivery roles within the water industry
- Ability to interpret and influence engineering designs
- Skilled in managing multiple projects and balancing priorities
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical, or Process Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards accreditation
- Practical experience with commissioning and operational handover
