Working closely with 3rd party consultancies and Oyster Production, the role will encompass all aspects of marine GRP compositedesign. This includes ratification and processing of 3rd party design information and a degree of first principles composite design. Alongside designfor production there will be significant interaction with Oyster Production toensure quality and accuracy are maintained and a practical approach to remedialstrategies in the case of manufacturing defects or errors.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Establisha clear and accurate scope of supply using the contract Master Work List andguided by the Client Project Manager and Line Manager
- Provide production support across the company
- Prepare3D models and 2D drawings for Oyster Production (AutoCAD & Siemens NX)
- Adhereto ISO 12215/ Lloyds SSC/ DNV HSLC design requirements
- Reviewexternal survey reports and compile list of actions based on Surveyorrecommendations
- Performin-house surveys, prepare reports and design repair strategies were required
- Assist with the design of material test samples, commission testing and prepare testresult reports as required
- Assist with the development and optimization of manufacturing strategies in collaboration with Oyster Production, QA and Metrology Departments.
- Havea meaningful input into continuous design improvement (value engineering),design for production efficiency, cost and weight reduction.
- Havegood time management and adhere to required deadlines.
- Attendproduction and project meetings as required to stay abreast of contractvariations and production feedback.
- Managedesign aspects of relevant external supply chain in conjunction with Procurement and Project Managers.
Knowledge
Familiar with polyester, vinylester and epoxy composite construction materials and techniques
Knowledge of infusion an advantage
Goodproduct and supplier knowledge and experience of supplier management
Asound understanding of yacht systems including knowledge of component location and installation requirements where relevant to composite design
Skills Computer literacy/aptitude using software such as:
- AutoCAD
- Microsoft Office in particular Outlook, Excel and Word
Experience
- Eitherfrom a consultancy or boatyard background but must be strongly orientatedtowards yacht production.
Qualifications
- Degreequalified with 2-5 years’ marine composite design experience
- Honestyand integrity.
- High attention to detail.
- Professional and respectful approach, internally and externally.
- Positive,helpful and consistent.
- Willingto travel for business, if required
