Opportunity

Our Graduate Engineers work in diverse roles such as river and coastal engineering, dams and reservoirs, sustainable urban drainage, green infrastructure, tunnelling, brownfield regeneration, site development, water or wastewater infrastructure and treatment, offshore wind structural and geotechnical design, renewables engineering advisory, floating offshore wind, tidal and hydrogen projects. You will collaborate with clients and stakeholders, undertake site visits and surveys, and work closely with specialists and contractors to deliver sustainable design services that address society’s need to respond to the climate emergency.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out assessment, analysis and design; prepare design reports, drawings, calculations and specifications.
  • Collaborate with Arup colleagues in other disciplines.
  • Work with landscape architects, environmental specialists and planners.
  • Meet with clients, local authorities and stakeholders, including site visits.
  • Specify and analyse survey data and constraints for solution development.
  • Develop and appraise options and support the production of engineering solutions and business cases.
  • Undertake sustainability reviews, producing low/zero‑carbon strategies, embodied carbon calculations, carbon implementation plans, materials assessments and sustainability studies.
  • Undertake feasibility studies, prepare engineering sketches and technical reports.
  • Create digital solutions to manipulate, analyse and report on large and complex datasets.
  • Use specialist analysis and design software such as Microdrainage/Info drainage, GIS, AutoCAD/Civil 3D/Bently Micro Station, Project Wise, Navisworks, Flood Modeller, Tuflow, DHI packages, Info Works, Orcaflex, Python, LS‑DYNA.
Qualifications
  • A degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent engineering degree, expected to achieve a 2:1 or above.
  • Interest in developing a career in engineering with a view to obtaining Professional Accreditation.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and a desire to deliver high‑quality work for a range of clients.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of working independently or in a team.
  • A passion for creating a sustainable future and shaping a better world.
  • Interest in exploring how digital methods and automation can improve the work we deliver.
