Position: Class Teacher - Great Oaks School

Overview

The Specialist Schools Trust, comprising Great Oaks School and Rosewood Free School, wishes to appoint SEND and PLMD classroom teachers to join the Trust. Great Oaks is a Southampton secondary specialist school catering for young people with a range of complex learning difficulties and Rosewood Free School is a day school for pupils aged 2‑19 years with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD).

Pupils attending both schools have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or they attend on an assessment placement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach and support learners with SEND and PMLD in mainstream or specialist settings.
  • Provide classroom teaching for both primary and secondary students.
  • Support a group of Pathway Learners – learners with SLD and complex learning needs (initially at Great Oaks).
  • Participate in professional development and support offered by the Trust.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Compassionate and skilled teachers with experience working with children with SEND and PMLD.
  • Experience either in a mainstream or specialist setting is essential.
  • Suitable for candidates with either primary or secondary experience.
  • ECTs are welcome to apply.
