SFL Timetabling Support Officer

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented individual to join our Timetabling & Academic Rooming – Specialist Facilities team as an SFL Timetabling Project Officer.

In this role, you will support the implementation of Solent Future Learning (SFL) across university timetables. You will work closely with academic and technical staff to ensure efficient use of teaching spaces and resources, develop timetabling principles, and contribute to a positive student and staff experience.

Key responsibilities include academic space planning, data analysis using systems such as SITs and CMIS, resolving scheduling issues, conducting room audits, and managing room bookings. You will also support occasional evening and weekend activities.

We are looking for someone with a degree or equivalent experience, strong communication and problem-solving skills, and a background in education or training environments. Experience with complex IT systems and an understanding of university business processes are essential.

This is a full-time role (37 hours per week), reporting to the Associate PVC (Education and Partnerships)

The role is fixed term until 30th June 2026

Job Purpose

To support the implementation of Solent Future Learning (SFL) across university timetables. This includes space planning, modelling, and collaboration with the Timetabling and Academic Rooming (TAR) team to optimize resource use and develop effective timetables.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with university staff to deliver efficient student and staff timetables aligned with SFL principles.
  • Conduct academic space planning and develop timetabling guidelines.
  • Analyze data from systems like Quercus, CMIS, and Attendance Systems.
  • Resolve issues creatively related to SFL and block delivery.
  • Communicate complex information effectively across the organization.
  • Support student and staff experience through timetabling processes.
  • Conduct room audits and manage room bookings.
  • Undertake ad hoc projects and support occasional evening/weekend activities.
