Deputy Team Leader - The King's Trust Programme

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Deputy Team Leader to support the delivery of The Kings Trust Team Programme, a transformative 12‑week personal development course! With plans to run three cohorts per year, this is a fantastic opportunity to make an impact.
As Deputy Team Leader, you will play an essential role in assisting the Team Leader in delivering a dynamic and inclusive programme. You will support and mentor young people aged 16‑25, including learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), helping them to build confidence, develop vital life and employability skills, and progress into employment, education, training, volunteering or apprenticeships.
The role has a strong Teaching Assistant focus, providing in‑class support, targeted interventions and one‑to‑one guidance to ensure all young people are able to engage, achieve and progress.

Travel expenses will be paid.
Hours37hpw, 52 wks p/a (except during residential trips 3 × per year) with 22 days holiday in addition to public bank holidays. Annual leave will need to coincide with school holiday closure periods at Christmas, Easter, or at the end of the Summer Term.
SalarySupport Staff SCP 11, Currently £28,634 p/a.
ContractFixed Term Contract until 31st July 2027, with the potential to extend.
Key Responsibilities- Support the Team Leader in planning and delivering the 12‑week programme, including a residential experience, community projects and work placements.
- Deputise for the Team Leader when required.
- Provide inclusive teaching and learning support, acting as a Teaching Assistant within sessions to meet the needs of learners with SEN.
- Assist with recruitment of young people into the Team Programme.
- Offer one‑to‑one support and mentoring to help participants overcome barriers and achieve their goals.
- Support the delivery of The Kings Trust Certificate/Award in Employment, Teamwork and Community Skills from Entry Level 3 to Level 2.
- Ensure all programme paperwork is completed accurately and on time.
- Assist young people with their literacy, language, numeracy and digital skills as needed.
- Liaise with employers, community organisations and other stakeholders to create opportunities for young people.
- Experience working with young people in an educational, mentoring or coaching capacity.
- Experience of supporting learners with SEN and/or EHCPs, or a strong willingness to develop skills in this area.
- An understanding of the Teaching Assistant role and inclusive approaches to learning.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
- A proactive, adaptable and supportive approach to working in a team.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
- The ability to motivate and inspire participants to achieve their goals.
- A willingness to attend the residential trip for one week per cohort and undertake The Kings Trust training.
- A Level 3 Award in Education and Training (or equivalent) or a willingness to achieve this within the first year of employment.
- Willingness to deputise for the Team Leader if required.
