We are seeking a reliable, practical, and proactive Assistant Site Manager to support the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and security of our school site. Working closely with the Site Manager, you will help ensure the school provides a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for pupils, staff, and visitors. Fairisle Infant and Nursery School and Fairisle Junior School have two site managers that work across both sites.
The position has arisen due to the retirement of the Site Manager at Fairisle Infant and Nursery School. The successful applicant will be working across both Fairisle Infant and Nursery school and Fairisle Junior School sites and will report to the Site Manager.
- Assist with the maintenance, repair, and general upkeep of school buildings and grounds
- Support health and safety procedures, including risk assessments and compliance checks
- Carry out basic repairs, decorating, and minor DIY tasks
- Assist with opening and closing the school premises, including security checks
- Support cleaning teams and external contractors as required
- Set up rooms for lessons, events, and examinations
- Respond promptly to emergencies, alarms, and site-related issues
- Assist with winter maintenance, including gritting and snow clearance
- Normal working pattern is 5 days per week; daily working hours will be agreed with the headteacher
- Practical, hands‑on, and able to carry out basic maintenance tasks
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements
- Reliable, flexible, and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Previous experience in site management, caretaking, or facilities maintenance is desirable
- Experience working in a school or similar environment is an advantage
