The role & about the client:
ITS Building People are recruiting on behalf of a successful and well-established residential contractor with an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality new-build housing developments. This contractor specialises in traditional build and timber frame schemes, partnering with private developers, housing associations, and local authorities. They are now seeking an experienced and detail-focused Technical Manager to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong residential technical and design coordination experience, playing a key role in ensuring high-quality design information, compliance, and buildability throughout the lifecycle of each development.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Manage all technical and design elements across multiple residential developments
Coordinate drawings, specifications, engineering details, and design information
Liaise with architects, engineers, consultants, and warranty providers (NHBC, LABC, etc.)
Ensure compliance with building regulations, planning conditions, and technical standards
Provide technical support to site teams, project managers, and commercial teams
Lead on resolving design queries, clashes, and buildability challenges
Manage technical documentation including reports, trackers, and approvals
Monitor design progress against programme and escalate issues where required
Support pre-construction with technical input, feasibility reviews, and design appraisals The ideal candidate will have/be:

Previous experience in a Technical Manager, Technical Coordinator, or Design Manager role
Strong background in new-build residential construction (private or social housing)
Excellent understanding of building regulations, NHBC/Building Control requirements, and residential design standards
Confident reviewing and interpreting drawings, engineering information, and specifications
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Organised, methodical, and able to manage multiple developments simultaneously
Competent IT skills (emails, document management systems, and design platforms)
A full UK driving licence (essential)
