Job Description & How to Apply Below

At Associated British Ports (ABP), we play a vital role in keeping Britain trading. Our network of 21 ports supports £150 billion of UK trade annually, connecting businesses, industries, and communities to the world. As we continue to modernise and transform our approach to data, property, and commercial insight, we’re looking for a curious, detail‑driven and forward‑thinking Property Analyst to join our Central Property team.

This is your chance to influence one of the UK’s largest and most diverse port estates‑helping us make confident, data‑led decisions that unlock growth, reduce risk, and enhance the value of our portfolio.

Why this role matters

ABP’s property portfolio is vast, varied and commercially critical. Ports are home to hundreds of tenants, complex land use arrangements, and significant long‑term development opportunities. To make the most of this, we need outstanding data. That’s where you come in. As our new Property Analyst, you’ll become the go‑to specialist for the quality, accuracy and insight of our SAP Real Estate (REFX) system.

You’ll transform lease documents, land use information and system updates into clear, actionable intelligence‑helping our surveyors, commercial teams and senior leaders make the right calls at the right time.

What you’ll be doing

Rather than simply inputting data, you’ll be bringing it to life‑interpreting commercial leases, maintaining REFX objects, safeguarding data integrity and ensuring our information landscape evolves with the business. You’ll also:

  • Build insightful reports and dashboards that help track performance, risk and commercial opportunities.
  • Support rent reviews, billing queries and financial reconciliations by ensuring SAP REFX reflects the true position of the portfolio.
  • Work closely with Property, Finance, Commercial and Operational teams across all regions, becoming a trusted and influential partner.
  • Contribute to system improvements, user training, and the ongoing evolution of our data capability‑including supporting enhancements in Power BI, GIS, and change requests for REFX functionality.
  • Provide the “story behind the numbers”, enabling ABP to reduce under‑utilised land, grow rental income and improve portfolio quality.

Every day, you’ll be part of a team driving tangible value across the business‑helping the UK’s largest ports operator stay competitive, future‑ready and commercially agile.

How you’ll thrive in this role

We’re looking for someone who can combine property knowledge with analytical capability and a collaborative approach. You’ll need:

  • Solid experience within a property‑related environment.
  • Confidence interpreting leases, licences and related legal documents.
  • A sharp eye for detail and proven experience maintaining accurate data sets.
  • Strong analytical thinking, along with clear communication skills.
  • The ability to work with a wide range of people—from surveyors to finance partners to port teams.
  • An organised, proactive mindset with the flexibility to manage changing priorities.

It’s a bonus (but not essential) if you have experience with SAP REFX, Business Objects, GIS or designing data objects, or if you’ve previously acted as a product owner.

What we offer

We’re the UK’s largest ports operator with a network of 21 ports around Britain. We handle around one quarter of the UK’s seaborne trade and contribute £7.5 billion to our economy every year. It’s a story we’re proud of but it doesn’t end there. We’re transforming our business and embracing the future. We offer a vast range of roles spanning the UK, all rooted in a culture that welcomes diversity, fosters talent, encourages internal movement and progression, and places safety as our number one priority.

When joining ABP you will find an environment that is both welcoming and challenging. We reward our employees well and offer a generous remuneration package, employer pension, private health insurance and a range of other benefits. Please note that ABP undertake random screening for substance abuse and operate a zero‑tolerance policy. A medical will be required before starting this position also.
