Buyer – Marine Industry | Southampton, UK

Opportunity to join a world-leading designer and manufacturer of specialised marine systems supporting the commercial, defence, and luxury yacht sectors.

Our client is seeking a motivated and hands‑on Buyer to join their Southampton‑based team. This role would suit an organised, proactive individual with strong negotiation skills and a background in technical or manufacturing environments.

The Role

Reporting to the General Manager, the Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and managing supplier relationships to ensure timely, cost‑effective, and high‑quality procurement of parts and materials.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Source, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, and delivery performance.
  • Build and maintain effective supplier relationships to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Negotiate pricing and terms with vendors to achieve best value.
  • Raise and manage purchase orders, maintaining accurate records and database updates.
  • Track orders to ensure timely delivery and verify goods received.
  • Support operational teams with purchasing activities and general administration.
Candidate Profile:
  • Proven experience in supplier negotiation and purchasing processes.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • Strong organisational ability and attention to detail.
  • Computer literate, with proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Sage 200 would be an advantage.
  • A self‑starter who thrives in a busy, technical environment.
