Business Development Manager:
Ocean/Air Southampton Business Development Manager - Salary & Benefits

  • Salary: £45,000.00 – £55,000.00
  • Monday to Friday
  • 9am – 5pm

Reporting to the Divisional General Manager / Divisional Director, you will play a critical role in developing new business at a crucial stage of growth for this branch, for its air and ocean freight services.

Business Development Manager Responsibilities
  • New business development for the company’s air/ocean freight services
  • Prospect for potential new clients, develop, and close business deals
  • Cold‑call within your geographic area to build a robust pipeline of opportunities
  • Identify potential clients and decision‑makers within the client organization
  • Research and build relationships with new clients
  • Arrange meetings with prospective clients
  • Plan approaches and pitches
  • Develop proposals that meet client needs, concerns, and objectives
  • Client retention activities
  • Present new products and services and enhance existing relationships with clients
  • Work with internal colleagues to meet customer needs
  • Arrange and participate in internal and external client meetings
Business Development Manager Requirements
  • Networking, persuasion, prospecting, research, and writing skills
  • Closing skills, sales motivation, prospecting skills, and sales planning
  • Ability to identify customer needs and goals
  • Strong self‑motivation and ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • In‑depth market knowledge and understanding
