Our client in the Logistics Sector is looking for a Logistics Transport Supervisor, to supervise and coordinate daily transport and distribution activities. Ensuring goods are delivered safely, on time, and in full, while maintaining compliance with legal, safety, and company standards.
Requirements- Matric (Grade 12) - essential.
- Relevant qualification in Logistics / Transport Management would be beneficial.
- Proven experience in a Transport or Logistics Supervisory role.
- Knowledge of transport legislation, compliance, and safety regulations.
- Experience supervising drivers and transport staff, including shift rostering.
- Familiarity with fleet management and vehicle maintenance coordination.
- Ability to manage transport schedules, delivery issues, and incidents.
- Experience using Transport Management Systems (TMS) and reporting tools.
- Strong communication and administrative skills.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- Willingness to work flexible hours or shifts.
Transport Operations
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily transport schedules and routes.
- Ensure timely collection and delivery of goods.
- Monitor vehicle utilization and driver performance.
- Resolve delivery issues, delays, or emergencies efficiently.
- Supervise drivers and transport staff on a day-to-day basis.
- Allocate workloads and manage shift rosters.
- Conduct driver briefings, toolbox talks, and performance reviews.
- Support training and development of transport personnel.
- Ensure compliance with transport legislation (e.g. drivers’ hours, tachograph rules, vehicle checks).
- Enforce health, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses.
- Maintain accurate transport and compliance records.
- Oversee vehicle checks, servicing, and maintenance schedules.
- Report defects and coordinate repairs with maintenance providers.
- Monitor fuel usage and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Maintain transport documentation and delivery records.
- Use transport management systems (TMS) and tracking software.
- Prepare performance and KPI reports (on-time delivery, costs, damages).
- Communicate with customers, warehouses, and internal departments.
- Handle customer queries and delivery complaints professionally.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across logistics operations.
