Requirements
- 18 years old for a Code 10 license (medium trucks)
- 21 years old for a Code 14 license (heavy trucks and trailers)
- Enroll in a certified driving school that offers truck driver training. This prepares you for both the theory and practical tests.
- A valid medical certificate from a registered practitioner is required to confirm you’re fit to drive heavy vehicles.
- Mandatory for all commercial drivers. You must apply for a PDP at a DLTC and pass a criminal background check.
- Candidate with some driving history.
- Working hours can be long and irregular, especially for long-haul routes.
