An opportunity exists for a hands‑on TRUCK & TRAILER FABRICATION TECHNICIAN within a busy fleet maintenance and repair environment servicing commercial trucks, trailers, and refrigerated transport units.
The successful candidate will be a multi-skilled artisan type individual capable of performing fabrication, welding, mechanical repairs, installations, and general workshop maintenance tasks across a range of commercial fleet equipment.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Fabrication and welding of truck and trailer components
- Structural repairs and reinforcement of commercial vehicle bodies
- Mechanical repairs and servicing of truck engines and components
- Panel beating and body repair work where required
- Trailer maintenance, repairs and modifications
- Wheel alignment and tyre servicing for commercial vehicles
- Installation and repair of refrigeration units and insulated truck bodies
- Skimming of components and workshop machining tasks
- Breakdown support and fault finding on fleet vehicles
- Installation of specialised fleet equipment and transport systems
- Ensure all work is completed to workshop quality and safety standards
- Maintain workshop tools, equipment and job documentation
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- Trade qualification advantageous (Boilermaker / Welder / Fabricator / Diesel Mechanic)
- Proven experience in commercial truck, trailer, or fleet workshop environments
- Strong welding and fabrication experience (MIG / ARC / structural repairs)
- Mechanical knowledge of diesel engines and vehicle components
- Experience with trailers, refrigerated transport bodies, and commercial vehicle structures advantageous
- Wheel alignment and tyre servicing experience beneficial
Ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical faults - Physically fit and capable of working in a hands‑on workshop environment
- Valid Code 8 driver’s license (Code 10 advantageous)
- Reliable, disciplined and able to work independently
