Job Description
Kendrick Recruitment is seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor for a luxury reserve in the Eastern Cape
.
This live-in position is ideal for a hands-on, practical individual with strong mechanical and maintenance skills, comfortable working in a remote bush environment and committed to supporting lodge and reserve operations.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet & Mechanical Management
Maintain and manage safari and reserve vehicle fleet
Schedule and execute preventative maintenance
Perform mechanical diagnostics, fault-finding, and repairs
Maintain tyres, brakes, suspension, steering, and drive trains
Keep accurate service and mileage records
Liaise with external mechanics as required
Lodge & Infrastructure Maintenance
Maintain guest rooms, safari tents, and public areas
Plumbing repairs and water system maintenance
Electrical fault-finding and basic installations
Carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance
Game Reserve & Operational Maintenance
Maintain pumps, boreholes, and water reticulation systems
Fence, gate, and welding repairs
Maintain reserve roads in coordination with contractors
Maintain workshop, tools, and equipment
Health & Safety
Ensure vehicles are roadworthy and safe for guests
Maintain safe working practices
Report safety risks and infrastructure issues promptly
Expected Outcomes
High fleet availability with minimal breakdowns
Well-maintained lodge and reserve infrastructure
Reduced maintenance costs through preventative planning
Safe, functional, and guest-ready facilities
Positive contribution to guest satisfaction and camp operations
Requirements
Minimum 5–10 years’ mechanical experience, preferably with fleet, diesel, or heavy vehicles
Experience in lodge, reserve, or remote-site maintenance advantageous
Practical trade qualification beneficial
Welding (arc/MIG), electrical fault-finding, plumbing, and pump system knowledge
Valid Code B driver’s licence required;
Code 10 / PDP advantageousComfortable driving safari and reserve vehicles, including 4x4s, in rugged terrain

Package
Salary:
Negotiable, dependent on experienceLive-in position
Shift work: 11 days on, 3 days off
Housing may be provided
Extra days or overtime compensated with paid-off days
