Diesel Fitter

The Diesel Fitter is responsible for the inspection, repair, servicing, and maintenance of all diesel-powered mobile equipment supporting the crushing and screening plant. This includes loaders, ADTs, excavators, skid steers, service trucks, and plant mobile machinery. The role ensures maximum equipment availability, reliability, safety compliance, and efficient support to production in a high‑dust, high‑wear manganese mining environment.

• Conduct routine, scheduled, and breakdown maintenance on diesel-powered heavy mining equipment (HME).
• Diagnose, repair, and overhaul engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, braking systems, fuel systems, and driveline components.
• Troubleshoot electrical and electronic systems on mobile equipment.

• Maintain and service mobile crushers’ diesel‑driven auxiliaries (generators, hydraulic power packs, mobile conveyors).
• Conduct diesel engine checks for plant vehicles and mobile plant that feed the crushers (loaders/excavators).

• Perform daily/equipment condition inspections and document defects.
• Use diagnostic tools and onboard systems to identify faults.

• Apply OEM standards, safe work procedures, and mining regulations.
• Ensure all repairs comply with mine safety, legal, and environmental requirements.
• Participate in risk assessments and incident investigations.

• Maintain clean and safe work areas around the workshop and field‑service units.
• Ensure high‑quality workmanship aligned with reliability improvement practices.

• Complete service reports, job cards, and parts requisitions accurately.
• Maintain maintenance records and ensure proper reporting.
• Relevant mining or plant maintenance certifications are advantageous.

• 3–5 years as a Diesel Mechanic in mobile plant, mining, or crushing environment.
• Experience with CAT, Komatsu, Volvo, Bell, Hitachi, or equivalent equipment.
• Exposure to mobile crushing & screening operations (advantage).
• Knowledge of manganese or heavy‑ore processing conditions preferred.
