Job Description
Macsteel Trading Germiston South is seeking a dedicated and result‑driven Sales Manager to achieve maximum sales profitability, growth and account penetration in this market segment by ensuring the Business achieves its sales targets in accordance with overall business objectives and strategy.
Requirements- 5 to 10 years in the Steel industry with the necessary sales background.
- Matric essential plus NQF Level 6 diploma in Sales and Marketing advantageous.
- Excellent communication/people skills.
- Knowledge of the steel industry.
- Excellent computer knowledge. SAP an advantage.
- Must be able to work under pressure.
- Prepared to travel if necessary.
- Service and grow current customer base to achieve set sales targets and maximise Business Unit profits.
- Monitor the performance of the external sales rep ensuring targets and objectives are met.
- Review and implement budgets for the external sales reps.
- Implement individual operational plans to ensure defined objectives are met.
- Pro‑actively identify new business opportunities, develop new markets/value add opportunities whilst maintaining current client base and ensuring the team are aligned with the sales objectives and business strategy.
- Perform accurate cost calculations.
- Recommend and submit new product sets/services and proposals for BU Management approval.
- Monitor and review uptake of new products/services.
- Ensure that all role players have a strong knowledge on pricing (special, contract and normal pricing).
- Maintain Sales budgets and implement remedial actions where necessary.
- Provide market intelligence based on competitive pricing structures and activities to grow market share or enter new markets.
- Propose solutions and improvements related to product usage and feasibility.
- Continuously review industry trends and client feedback to anticipate future market needs.
- Investigate material defects/failures/complaints with the relevant role players and recommend corrective and preventative measures.
- Adopt optimisations and standardisation of material.
