Overview

A vacancy for a Truck Sales Executive exists at a Commercial dealership client based in Pinetown (Durban). They require an experienced Sales Executive in the motor industry with a proven track record to sell a broad range of commercial vehicles (Extra Heavy, Heavy and Medium) and provide services to clients in order to increase company profit. Frequent travel is required.

Responsibilities
  • Aim to maximise sales and profitability through satisfaction and retention of customers and meeting sales targets.
  • Determine customer needs and budget and provide advice, guidance and commercial vehicle knowledge.
  • Prospect, compile quotes and close sales; identify and establish contact with potential customers proactively.
  • Maintain contact with new and existing customers to advertise products and deliver a detailed account strategy.
  • Respond to sales enquiries from new and existing customers and deliver presentations of company products at conferences, customer sites and exhibitions.
  • Meet annual sales goals and targets; maintain the company’s contact database with up-to-date contact and activity details.
  • Produce monthly sales reports and provide feedback to enhance product functioning and service delivery.
  • Ensure effective internal communication with Sales and Business Development across the Group; motivate sales staff to share relevant market data.
  • Negotiate terms and close deals; monitor and report competitor activities and identify business threats and opportunities.
  • Support cross-functional departments and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain relationships with customers, staff, colleagues and other stakeholders (Iveco group).
Qualifications
  • Matric; postgraduate qualification would be advantageous.
  • 5–8 years of proven commercial vehicle sales experience.
  • Database of clients/customers.
  • Deal-closing abilities and excellent computer literacy.
  • Bilingual with a good command of English and Afrikaans.
  • Valid Code 14 driver’s license and PDP.
Working conditions

Hours of work: 45 hours per week, based on a 5-day week.

  • Knowledge of company policies, procedures and standards in respect of commercial vehicles; knowledge of available vehicles and the ability to explain and demonstrate features professionally.
  • Customer-focused with good communication skills; excellent verbal, written and presentation communication.
  • Good customer service, problem solving, organisation and the ability to explain complex technical issues with effective presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated, able to function with no supervision and a good team player.
  • Outstanding negotiation skills, ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure, and provide quick and accurate responses.
  • Ability to handle varied tasks, make good decisions and write sales reports and correspondence; good reporting abilities.

  • High level of professionalism, courtesy, tact and diplomacy; professional personal appearance.
  • Self-starter, flexible, tenacious, persuasive, good work ethic; honest, trustworthy, reliable and patient with customers.
