Assistant Manager/Trainee Manager (External Applications Only)
Description
Requirements- Grade 12 with at least 2 years retail management experience
- Valid driver's licence
- Valid local work permit
- Strong accounting skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Basic computer literacy
- Strong leadership skills
- Strong administrative skills
- Own transport and cell phone
- Sound knowledge of Health and Safety (OHSA or neighbouring legislation)
- Strong Human Resources skills
- Assist the Store Manager to develop, implement and manage a Store Business Plan aligned with company strategy and approved by Divisional and Operations Managers.
- Assist in achieving market share growth as defined in the strategy plan.
- Assist in achieving sales budgets and growth objectives by category.
- Assist in promoting customer loyalty programmes (e.g., VIC, charge cards).
- Assist in managing the distribution of advertising material for maximum efficiency.
- Assist in developing action plans to protect market presence when competitors enter.
- Assist in implementing and monitoring the Customer Service strategy.
- Assist in maintaining Customer Audits above 95%.
- Assist in providing a reliable, prompt Customer Delivery Service.
- Assist in growing and maintaining VIC client base.
- Assist in achieving transaction budgets.
- Assist in recommending range improvements to suit the market.

Stock
- Assist in managing and controlling shrinkage.

- Assist in maintenance and protection of IT equipment and telephone systems.
- Assist in maintenance and protection of the safe.
- Assist in recruiting and inducting all employees.
- Assist in ensuring training & development are in place.
- Assist in ensuring succession planning & career pathing are in place.
- Assist in managing manpower requirements in line with division and store strategy.
- Assist in ensuring open communication with the employee committee.
- Assist in managing employee relations.
- Assist in managing safety aspects in line with OHSA and neighbouring legislation.
- Ensure checklists are complete.
- Appoint safety reps as per OHSA Act.
- Report incidents.
- Assist in recording all incidents.
- Assist in maintaining housekeeping standards.
- Assist in managing merchandising standards.
- Assist in implementing and maintaining correct planograms.
- Assist in maintaining yard and parking areas.
- Assist in achieving operating income budget.
- Assist in managing the store according to the financial model, benchmarks, and budgets.
- Assist in achieving audit benchmark and monitoring adherence to company standards.
- Assist in implementing and maintaining controls and disciplines.
- Assist in implementing corrective action plans where necessary.
