Quality Assurance Officer

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Systems Officer to support and enhance quality and food safety systems within a food manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring compliance with food safety standards, maintaining quality systems, and supporting environmental management initiatives.

Key Performance Areas

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

• Maintain and continuously improve quality management systems in line with applicable codes and food safety standards

• Identify system gaps, implement corrective actions, and issue non-conformances for deviations

• Assist with the development and maintenance of HACCP plans across all product categories

• Compile and maintain accurate product specifications

• Support audit preparation and participate as a member of the audit team during food safety audits

• Assist with pathogen and non-pathogen environmental monitoring programmes

• Conduct in-house training and environmental awareness sessions

• Participate in monthly quality meetings

• Perform regular housekeeping inspections and issue non-conformances for non-compliance

• Support internal audits, mock recalls, and continuous improvement initiatives

• Assist with the implementation and maintenance of the environmental management system

• Support preparation for environmental and compliance audits

Knowledge and Experience Required

• Matric qualification

• Food Science–related degree or diploma

• Minimum of two years’ experience within the food industry

• Proven experience in quality system implementation and maintenance

• Working knowledge of food safety standards and HACCP principles

• Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
