POSITION IN THE ORGANISATION – Boilermaker (ALP
45) Temporary THE PURPOSE OF THE BOILERMAKER ROLE IS TO:
  • Commit with the Manufacturing targets given by the EPU Manager & Line Manager.
  • Comply with the EHS standards, ethics and compliance rules, the operational targets are based on Quality, Adherence with planning and time spent on the products.
  • In addition, of course, the behaviour is key to ensure a positive mind-set, based on team working and continuous improvement environment.
THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITY WILL BE:
  • To position, adjust components, tack weld and weld some components to each other to build frame sub-assemblies structure or full frame following standards, instructions and respecting quality, cost and delay defined in the manufacturing process.
  • To manage the straightening operations by local heating on sub-assemblies or frames to bring the structure back to the nominal dimension and geometry.
  • To manage the heat treatment in the oven following procedure (loading, unloading, heating survey + first level analyse).
  • To balance bogie frames structure and to place, adjust and fix the locating for frame machining.
ACTIVITIES
  • To use work-order from the workshop network (to follow activity, to input activity data).
  • To select the right welding equipment in relation with the instruction sheet.
  • To adjust parameters of the welding workstation in relation with instruction sheet (Intensity, tension).
  • To adjust components to ensure the correct position and gaps between 2 components before welding (gap, root face, chamfer angle…) defined in WPS of instruction sheet.
  • To weld components in relation and respect of the instruction sheet parameters and quality.
  • To finish and clean welds before checking quality of the welds.
  • To straighten sub-assemblies after welding.
  • To follow heat treatment of bogie frame following the instruction sheet.
  • To check the conformity of welds according to the specification and standard in place.
  • To repair non-conformity of welds (geometry, visual aspect in relation with the criterion) following repair specification.
  • To guarantee the quality of his own job by auto-control (C1N validation by stamping).
  • To participate in team meetings (5 min meeting every day, other meetings).
  • To be an active participant to transversal action in continuous improvement process as, APSYS, SWIP, 5S, Team 5 min meeting.
THE PREFERRED CANDIDATE WILL MEET THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:
  • Qualified Artisan boilermaker (red seal).
  • Minimum 5 years in welding production as a boilermaker.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING COMPETENCIES
  • Knowledge and experience in flame straightening is desired.
  • Knowledge and experience in Bogie Frames is desired.
  • Previous experience in railway components will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge and experience in carbon steel, stainless steel.
  • For semi-skilled, willingness to learn in their field (use of hand tools). Positive behaviour and focused on reaching the targets.
  • Disciplined, rigorous, proactive, teamwork member.
  • Conscientiousness, thoroughness, ability to learn and to transfer knowledge.
  • Team Player, commitment to the job.
