Metrology Technician

Overview

Conduct dimensional measurement of vehicle components to ensure conformity to drawing and dimensional specification.

Provide detailed dimensional analysis to aid part approval and correction to desired CAD/Drawing level

• Conduct dimensional measurement of vehicle components to ensure conformity to drawing specification.
• Conduct detailed measurement and analysis to aid part approval process of Internal and External supplier parts.
• Provide dimensional analysis and problem-solving ability to successfully resolve production concerns and improve the overall product quality.
• Conduct dimensional approval of vehicle components to ensure the successful release of components at the correct quality levels at relevant PEP milestones.
• Provide support to external supplier base to ensure correct Dimensional Metrology methods and principles are applied to ISO/VDA requirements.

National Diploma:
Mechanical/Electrical/Mechatronics

• Have a minimum of 5 years Metrology measuring experience (Tactile or Optical).
• Have a minimum of 5 years measuring software experience (PC-Dmis, GOM, Polyworks)

• Offline and teach programming experience of CMM facilities
• Advanced computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office - Excel, Power Point
• Working knowledge of CAD software (Catia Preferable)
• Working understanding of CMM maintenance and TPM
• Interpretation of Technical drawings
• Design and building of measuring fixtures
• Sound understanding of the vehicle manufacturing process (Press Shop, Body Shop, Assembly, Purchase parts manufacturing)
• Problem solving/ analytical thinking capability
• Planning and prioritisation skills
