Continuous Improvement Officer

Astral, a leading South African integrated poultry producer, has a Continuous Improvement Officer opportunity, in the Service Department at County Fair
, Primary Processing Plant in Fisantekraal.

The purpose of the Continuous Improvement Officer position is to co-ordinate across all departments, departmental needs. The overall business improvement journey to world class by deploying, implementing and managing the 20 Keys continuous improvement principles.

• Implementing and facilitation of 20 Keys continuous improvement principles;
• Sharing of best practice in the processing environment;
• Work closely with the Operations Management team to ensure the ongoing sustainability of operational excellence tools;
• Ensuring that skills levels are reviewed, maintained and benefits realized;
• Development and smooth implementation of solutions to improve the business performance through the application of 20 Keys methodology;
• Support the manufacturing teams in the delivery of plans to increase efficiency and reduce costs across the site; review regularly and ensure milestones are met;
• Coach the Production team in continuous improvement techniques and help them cascade this approach to their teams to develop a proactive continuous improvement culture;
• Instill a culture of solving problems at through training and coaching the effective use of problem-solving tools;
• Create a culture of transparency and openness across the Processing Plant with a no-surprise, no-blame ethos;
• Lead and assist in any/all improvement projects;
• Conduct 20 Keys benchmarking and create action plans for improvement;
• Compile 20 Keys quarterly reports;
• Ensure team understands the of use of PDCA /CAPDO approach;
• Use data for analysis, insight and evaluation of opportunities;
• Coaching and facilitation skills to influence positive change within the Processing Plant.

• Completed Matric or equivalent qualification;
• Experience in 20 Keys / Lean principles;
• Experience in mentoring individuals;
• It is essential that the incumbent has a passion for implementing and maintaining a continuous workplace improvement program (20 Keys);
• Strong administrative, organizational, interpersonal and time management skills;
• Strategic and Analytical mindset;
• Excellent communicator & presentation skills;
• Dynamic thinking and problem-solving abilities;
• Fluent in English and a second official language;
• Must be deadline driven and able to work in a highly pressurized environment;
• The incumbent must be hardworking, honest and self-motivated;
• Be in possession of a valid Driver’s license & reliable transport.
