The Role:

Fitter and Turner

This role is responsible for fabricating, assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing machinery and components within the company's operations. You will work closely with engineers and other tradespeople to ensure machinery is functioning optimally, troubleshoot issues, and uphold high safety and food safety standards.

• Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
• Fabricate, assemble, install, maintain, and repair machinery and components
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform preventative maintenance
• Operate hand and machine tools including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and welding equipment
• Work with various metals and materials
• Collaborate with engineers and tradespeople on projects
• Complete job cards, time sheets, and assist with spare parts procurement
• Train, guide, and motivate apprentices and junior staff
• Maintain a safe, clean workspace and prioritize food safety

• Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate and Fitter & Turner qualification
• Minimum 5 years experience as a qualified Fitter & Turner in a manufacturing environment, preferablywithpackhouse experience
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Basic electrical knowledge, numeracy skills, and ability to operate lathes and milling machines
• Supervisory abilities and innovative thinking with capacity to train and lead others
• Physically capable of lifting heavy equipment and working at heights or in confined spaces
• Familiarity with company processes and systems, including BRC, safety systems, and SOPs
