Maintenance Assistant – Life Cosmos Hospital

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, Siya Mjali.

• Ensure continuous availability of general building/electrical maintenance services for the hospital infrastructure.
• Manage day‑to‑day maintenance‑related issues.
• Handle general maintenance enquiries from doctors and staff.
• Execute repairs/tasks as per job card, instructions or ad‑hoc requests from the line manager.
• Provide line managers with relevant information as required.
• Supervise daily inspection of the medical gas alarm system and recording of medical gases.
• Supervise daily inspection of vacuum pumps, medical air compressor, plumbing and general maintenance.
• Follow up the maintenance schedule for air conditioning and filters.
• Possibly perform standby duties.

• Grade 12 National Senior Certificate or equivalent.
• Minimum N3 or equivalent qualification in mechanical.
• 3 years’ experience in general hospital maintenance, plumbing, painting, hospital beds, door locks, carpentry.
• Conversant in English.
• Be in possession of a valid driver's license.

• Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to complete tasks timeously and accurately, and work under pressure.
• Eager to learn new systems and accept work challenges.
• Adhere to NOSA and OHSA acts.
• Experience dealing with customers.
