IntroductionUnicare is looking for Drivers to join the Team. This role will be based in the 24hr Pharmacy in Somerset West.
Job DescriptionTo ensure that the safe, timely, and confidential delivery of prescription medications and healthcare products to customers, clinics and healthcare facilities. The driver plays a vital role in maintaining trust and reliability between the pharmacy and its clients.
Job Objectives- Deliver prescription and OTC medications to residential homes, clinics, retirement homes, and hospitals
- Ensure urgent deliveries are prioritised
- Handle temperature sensitive and scheduled medication securely
- Ensure refrigerated medication/products have ice packs
- Loading vehicle carefully to ensure the safe delivery of parcels
- Obtain signatures and maintain proof-of-delivery
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times
- Communicate professionally with patients and healthcare staff
- Relay customer concerns or queries to the Dispensary Manager
- Return undelivered or rejected items to the dispensary with the relevant documentation
- Ensure that the vehicle is cleaned regularly
- Ensure check sheet for deliveries are completed accurately
- Ensure the accurate number of parcels are confirmed beforehand
- Ensure that all duties allocated are carried out and completed
- National Senior Certificate (Matric) Essential
- At least 2 years previous delivery or courier experience
- Basic knowledge of pharmacy procedures (advantages)
- A Code 08 or 10 driver’s license required, approved by the South African Road Traffic Act
- A Valid PDP
- No traffic violations on record
- Must be prepared to work shifts in order to meet the operational requirements of the department
- Basic knowledge of pharmacy procedures
- High level of integrity and responsibility
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle medication with care
- Knowledge of customer service excellence
- Strong customer orientation
- Good communication skills
- Able to work under time pressure/time deadline
