1st Line Linux Systems Administrator

We seek the services of a junior Linux Systems Administrator to join our Systems Administrator team that specialises in the troubleshooting and repairing any issues which occur on our large scale Linux based hosting systems.

What you’ll do:

• Troubleshoot Linux systems in response to system alerts

• Identify trends to enable proactive system improvements

• Escalate issues to and work alongside Linux admin teams

• Ensure our contact centre is kept up to date to be able to keep customers well informed as to the status of an issue

• Provide out of business hours support

• Actively participate in continuous improvement within the team
  

Skills and Attributes:

• Excellent troubleshooting & problem solving

• Methodical and accurate

• Customer centric (although not customer-facing)

• Good communicator

• Linux system troubleshooting skills

• Shell scripting

Qualifications and Experience:

• Matric Pass or Equivalent

• A minimum of 1 year basic Linux System Administration experience including LAMP stack

• Willingness to work shifts

• Advantageous:
  Helpdesk or technical support experience
