Assistant Lodge Manager
Job Description
The Assistant Lodge Manager will support the Lodge Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the lodge, ensuring exceptional guest experiences while maintaining high operational and service standards. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong administrative, guest relations, and team management skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in managing all lodge departments: hospitality, housekeeping, kitchen, maintenance, and guiding
- Ensure outstanding guest service and handle guest relations professionally
- Supervise and support lodge staff, including scheduling and performance management
- Oversee lodge administration: reporting, stock control, procurement, budgeting assistance
- Ensure compliance with lodge policies, procedures, and safety standards
- Assist with reservations, check-ins, check-outs, and guest communications
- Support the Lodge Manager with operational planning and problem-solving
- Stand in for the Lodge Manager when required

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct guided game drives and bush walks
- Ensure guest safety at all times while on safari
- Interpret wildlife, ecology, and conservation to guests
- Maintain safari vehicles and guiding equipment
- Uphold all reserve rules and safety procedures
- Assist with lodge activities and guest engagement when not on drive
- Represent the lodge with professionalism at all times
Assistant Lodge Manager
Job Specification
- Previous experience in an Assistant Lodge Manager or similar hospitality management role
- Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills
- High attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Excellent administrative and financial awareness
- Guest-focused mindset with a hands-on approach
- Ability to work under pressure in a remote lodge environment
- Computer literacy (reservations systems, MS Office)
Field Guide
Job Specification
- FGASA qualification (minimum Level 1 preferred)
- Valid PDP and driver’s license
- First Aid certification
- Strong communication and storytelling skills
- Professional appearance and conduct
- Passion for wildlife, conservation, and guest experience
- Ability to work flexible hours in line with safari operations
- Both candidates must have relevant experience in their respective fields
- Strong teamwork and communication between partners
- Commitment to long-term placement and lodge life
- Willingness to live on-site in a remote environment
- Shared passion for hospitality, conservation, and guest service
