Role Overview

GoMetro is seeking a highly experienced, disciplined, and hands‑on Company Accountant to take full ownership of the day‑to‑day accounting and bookkeeping function across GoMetro and its affiliated entities.

This is a critical role within the organisation. The successful candidate will be solely responsible for maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date accounting records
, preparing monthly management accounts, and supporting the Group CFO with financial oversight, planning, and reporting. The role requires someone who is comfortable operating autonomously, thrives under pressure, and takes pride in meticulous financial control.

Key Responsibilities Core Accounting & Bookkeeping
  • Full responsibility for the books of GoMetro and its affiliated entities
  • Daily processing and capturing of:
  • Cash inflows and outflows
  • Supplier invoices and expense claims
  • Customer invoices and receipts
  • Creation and management of:
  • Purchase orders
  • Sales invoices
  • Journal entries
  • Maintaining accurate general ledger records in Xero
  • Able to work with multiple currencies, as GoMetro is expanding globally.
Monthly Reporting & Controls
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts for handover to the Group CFO
  • Reconciliation of:
  • Bank accounts
  • Credit cards
  • Debtors and creditors
  • Implementation and ongoing enforcement of creditor controls
  • Active debtor follow‑ups and cash collection support when required
Operational & Cross‑Team Support
  • Responding promptly to ad‑hoc financial requests from management and colleagues
  • Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and planning processes under the direction of the Group CFO
  • Working closely with a small outsourced accounting and payroll team handling:
  • Local and international payroll
  • Statutory compliance and specialist accounting matters
  • Ensuring strong documentation, audit trails, and financial hygiene at all times
Required Experience & Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years’ professional accounting and bookkeeping experience
  • Proven experience producing monthly management accounts in a commercial environment
  • Experience working in fast‑paced, high‑growth companies with multiple moving parts
  • Strong working knowledge of Xero (essential)
  • Solid understanding of:
  • Debtors and creditors management
  • Cash flow tracking
  • Purchase order and invoicing processes
  • An appropriate accounting qualification (e.g. BCom Accounting, National Diploma in Accounting, or equivalent)
