An established distribution group is seeking a high-calibre Senior Credit Controller to take full ownership of a substantial debtor’s book and play a critical role in cash flow, risk management, and operational excellence.
This is not a corporate, back-office role. This position requires energy, decisiveness, and hands-on leadership from someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and enjoys being close to the numbers, the customers, and the business.
💼 The Opportunity You will be responsible for managing a large, high-value debtor’s book. This role is ideal for an experienced credit professional who combines strong accounting foundations, advanced Excel capability, and excellent stakeholder management.

🎯 Key Objectives

• Drive positive cash inflow and reduce DSO
• Enforce robust credit control procedures and policies
• Minimise bad debt and manage credit risk proactively
• Build strong internal and external customer relationships
• Provide accurate, timely information for management decision-making

🧠 Key Responsibilities

• Full credit control function: applications, limits, recons, collections
• Weekly cash flow forecasting and monthly management reporting
• Processing invoices, credit notes, journals and receipts (ERP-based)
• Legal escalation, recovery processes and liaison with legal advisors
• Credit risk assessments and credit insurance management
• Resolution of customer queries and POD disputes
• Mentoring and guiding junior credit controllers
• Continuous process improvement to optimise ageing and collections

🧩 Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (essential)
• Relevant Credit Management or Accounting qualification (advantageous)
• Minimum 10 years’ credit control experience
• Accounting background required
• Experience with in a medium-sized business (non-corporate environment)
• Advanced Excel proficiency (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, SUMIF, etc.)
• Strong ERP exposure (Business Central / NAV advantageous)
• Fluency in English and Afrikaans essential
