SummaryOur client is looking for a SHE Officer to act as the shift ambassador for Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ). You will ensure compliance with SHE policies, procedures, standards, and legal requirements, maintain a safe work environment, and provide guidance and support to employees during your shift.
This role is ideal for someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about safety and environmental management.
Job Requirements Qualifications- Minimum:
Grade 12 certificate - National Diploma in Safety Management or SAMTRAC certification
- Knowledge of OHS Act, ISO, environmental, noise, and energy regulations
- Advantageous:
Tertiary studies in SHE, ISO 9001/14001/45001 qualifications
- Minimum: 3 years in manufacturing or related SHE environment
- Advantageous:
Experience in battery manufacturing or similar industries
- Knowledge of OHS Act, ISO 9001/14001/45001 systems
- Working knowledge of national regulations and bylaws
- Competent in MS Office and safety software systems
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, ISO, and legal audit requirements
- Implement audits, checks, and inspections to meet OHS Act and environmental requirements
- Maintain reports, samples, and documentation for internal and external authorities
- Conduct incident investigations and implement preventive strategies
- Perform Hazard Identification & Risk Assessments (HIRA) and update SOPs/SWPs
- Conduct employee SHE inductions and training
- Implement health and safety standards and maintain inspection registers
- Issue work permits for staff and contractors
- Maintain Environmental Management System in line with ISO and legislation
- Conduct monthly environmental assessments and report findings
- Participate in investigations of incidents, accidents, and IODs
- Support plant energy efficiency plans
- Promote energy savings via equipment shutdowns, light timers, and technology improvements
- Conduct risk assessments for all tasks and contractor jobs
- Identify hazards, assign controls, and implement mitigation plans
- Attend daily production QSB and SHEEQ meetings
- Support SHE representatives and supervise shift compliance
- Compile rosters and daily audits to maintain SHEE standards
