Junior Product Development Engineer

WACO Africa is seeking a talented Junior Product Development Engineer to support the creation of cutting‑edge products in formwork, scaffolding, modular building and sanitation. Under the guidance of experienced engineers, you'll play a key role in developing solutions that deliver strong ROI while meeting stringent safety standards and client needs.

• Conduct load testing on existing and new products, which may include stand‑alone items or complete systems.
• Verify compliance with relevant industry standards and implement necessary modifications to non‑compliant products.
• Present test data in a practical, accessible format, including report writing as required.

• Convert conceptual designs into physical, full‑scale prototypes suitable for load testing or demonstration purposes.
• Create 2D and 3D models of proposed products using CAD software.
• Produce detailed manufacturing drawings from CAD models to support production processes

• Work with various materials, including carbon steel, aluminium, plastic and wood.
• Perform basic manual machining operations such as milling, drilling and turning.

• BTech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification (required).
• Demonstrated technical curiosity, aptitude and creativity.
• Self‑motivated with a willingness to spend approximately 70% of working hours on the workshop floor.
• Experience with testing equipment is beneficial.
• Understanding of structural steel codes is advantageous.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a high‑paced environment
